ABOUT
Who I Am
I'm a 54-year-old hip hop artist, songwriter, homesteader, and systems thinker living off-grid in regional Victoria. I make music about the signs of the times, sometimes direct and edgy sometimes, tender. I also build things with my hands—My house, silver dollar studio ,wicking beds, stone walls, songs. I am not conventional but I am conservative.
Some chop the wood. Some sit by the fire. I chose the axe.
What I'm Building
This isn't just a music project—it's a working model of self-determination through creativity and nature stewardship. The straw bale homestead, the music, the philosophy: they're all the same thing. Proof of concept that another way is possible. LARPing baby.
I'm documenting it as I go. The songs, the water systems, the forest, the shows, the thinking.
And I do dumb stuff. Then learn. Like don't climb trees with chainsaw unless professionally trained. I'll tell you sometime.
The Four Pillars
My work rests on four principles:
1. Self-Determination
No nudging, economic traps, and cultural homogeneity. You build your livelihood by making, not consuming. Ask questions…
2. Nature as First Principle
Permaculture as my lens.
The forest, the fruit tree, the soil, the beehive—these are my friends and they show me things. They're not motifs; they're philosophical anchors and actual entities I angage with. We work our signature on this land together.
3. The Maker Ethic
I make songs, build my home, keep bees, and write independently. The work is the point. Local vagabonds are my great friends and teachers. And we get up to mischief. “A Mischief of Magpies” you could say.
4. Truth to Power (in Symbolic Form)
I question large systems—political, algorithmic, economic—but I do it through metaphor, mythology, story, and humor. This isn't the headline; it's the subtext, the spice.
The Music
Shameless plug alert.
I was signed to Mushroom Music when young but like other great tragedies things did not pan out. I chose a 20 year doomsday Prep story instead and now like the phoenix.. not Icarus, not Sisyphus. (well maybe a bit sisyphus)
I've been told by a Grammy-winning engineer that he thought my vocals were vintage samples from the 50s or 60s. He gives me mates rates on the mastering so -bonus. I'm not ‘akshually’ that good on the pipes but occaisionally there is some gold to be found. Trust me - you'll see.
I play everything - drums, guitar, bass keys, mixing, vocals - the works, so although I like me those blip sounds I do the making. Check me out live if you can. Computers are cool but when the lights go down I got drum sticks and I can dance…
The songs reference Hubbert's peak, demographics, surveillance states, and ampoules (yes, in a rap song). If that sounds dense, it is. But it grooves, its’ fonky, and human. I'm not a suck. I’m my own man and I want to write songs of all kinds - ones inclusive and symbolic and ones challenging and brutal.
The Validation That Matters
David Holmgren, co-originator of permaculture and one of the world's leading systems thinkers, told me to my face to keep going with the commentary and critique. So I am. Don’t care if it’s a small world experience. I don't think he actually digs the music but digs the words. Like a lot of my crew over on substack - the words get em even if they like classical and I like rap. Promise I'll do a ‘Baby Shark’ one day.
What's Ahead
2026 is about building the catalog and the community. Ten more songs released. Ten shows performed. Water security locked in (bore drilled, pump going in soon, swales working). Infrastructure finished (stone walls, orchards, wicking beds, tree deck).
By 2027, I'll be touring more. By 2028, the homestead will be producing most of our food and the music will be producing income. The model will be proven.
For now, I'm chopping wood. Making songs. Growing food. Writing when something needs saying. Building a life that can't be taken by algorithm or collapse. Doomscrolling. Man too much doomscrolling…
If that resonates, sign up below. Come to a show. Buy the music. Join the crew.
Thanks for being here.
